Es handelt sich um Fr\u00fcchte der Rotbuche (botanisch <strong>Fagus sylvatica<\/strong>). Die Form erinnert im ersten Moment an ein Ei, angeschnitten sehen die Fr\u00fcchte dreieckig aus. Lang kann eine Buchecker etwa 1,5 Zentimeter werden.<\/p>\n<p>Heute spielen die Bucheckern keine wirkliche Rolle als Lebensmittel mehr. Allerdings haben unsere Gro\u00dfeltern noch Zeiten erlebt, in denen Bucheckern viele Haushalte \u00fcber Wasser gehalten haben. Selbst als <strong>Kaffeeersatz<\/strong> mussten die Rotbuche-Fr\u00fcchte schon herhalten.<\/p>\n<h2>Aroma von Bucheckern<\/h2>\n<p>Das Aroma der Bucheckern ist <strong>nussig<\/strong>, die Fr\u00fcchte k\u00f6nnen vielf\u00e4ltig verwendet werden \u2013 geschrotet als Mehl (Kuchen oder Brot), ger\u00f6stet im Salat oder verarbeitet in Pesto \u2013 mit Bucheckern k\u00f6nnt Ihr so einige \u00dcberraschungen auf die Teller zaubern.<\/p>\n<p>Achtung: Wer Bucheckern selbst sammeln und zubereiten will, sollte eines bedenken. Roh enthalten die Fr\u00fcchte <strong>Fagin \u2013 ein leichtes Toxin<\/strong>. Durch R\u00f6sten wird dieser Stoff allerdings abgebaut. Um schnell gute und schlechte Fr\u00fcchte voneinander zu trennen, werden Bucheckern in eine Schale mit Wasser gegeben.
